Even though the evening of May 10 brought a cool breeze over Cahul, the warmth of the hearts of those present transformed Independence Square into a vibrant space, where the srăba and batuta brought generations together in dance steps. The “Hora de la Cahul” was officially inaugurated – a season of celebration of folk traditions, opened by the symbolic event “Mândră-i Hora la Cahul”, organized by the “Nicolae Botgros” Palace of Culture, with the support of the Cahul City Hall.
Now in its 38th edition, this event has become a living expression of local cultural identity, marking the beginning of the Sunday horas – a custom that continues to unite people, generations and values around traditional dance and music.

The evening's artistic program reflected the professionalism and dedication of the bands within the Palace of Culture, offering the audience a journey through the beauty and diversity of authentic folklore from the south:

    • The Ethnofolcloric Ensemble "Altița", led by Irina Bîrcă - highlighted the refinement of the traditional costume and the elegant movements specific to southern Moldova.
    •  The folk dance ensemble "Nufărul", under the guidance of maestro Ion Arabadji - electrified the atmosphere with dynamic and energetic choreographic moments.
    •  The "Bobocelul" Choreographic Studio, coordinated by Eugenia Jabineț, thrilled the audience with the appearance of the youngest dancers, who brought sincerity, courage and authentic joy to the stage.
    •  The Cahul Municipal Fanfare, conducted by Gheorghe Ignatiuc – accompanied the entire evening with a vibrant repertoire, which completed the picture of a true popular celebration.

Through “Proud of the Hora in Cahul” we continue to bring together the people, traditions and emotions that define our cultural identity. It is a joy to see the Square full of children, parents and grandparents, united by the same rhythm of the soul.” — Rodica Panașescu, director, “Nicolae Botgros” Palace of Culture, Cahul

"Proud of Cahul" is more than a show - it is a bridge between past and present, between tradition and modernity, a symbol of the Cahul community that lives, vibrates and affirms itself through culture.

Starting this week, we are waiting for you every Sunday, in the Horelor Square, to dance together, keep our values alive, and celebrate folklore, as we know it best – in the horela.
