An explosion of colors and cultural traditions at the Opening Parade of the "Nufarul Alb" International Folklore Festival
Between June 28 and July 2, the city of Cahul was the host of a special cultural event, the "Nufarul Alb" International Folklore Festival, the 17th edition. For five days, this festival gathered participants and spectators from various countries, offering a truly captivating journey into the world of cultural traditions and customs.
One of the most impressive moments of the festival was the People's Harbor Parade, which took place in the heart of the city. The parade was opened by the emblem of the festival, the flag of the Republic of Moldova, followed by the official delegations and the flags of the participating states. Among the ensembles from the Republic of Moldova, the Ensemble "Izvorașul" from Cahul and "Struguras" from Ungheni proudly presented the authentic traditions and energetic dances of their region. Romania was represented by the ensembles "Mugurașii" from Bacău and "Grăușorul Osmănean" from Brăila, who impressed the audience with their grace and artistic passion.
Along with these, the international ensembles brought a fascinating palette of cultures and traditions. The "Lazaktite" ensemble from Devin, Bulgaria gave the audience a foray into the vibrant dances and colorful costumes specific to their area. The ensemble "Kocho Racin" from Skopje, Macedonia brought to the fore the musical richness and captivating dances of their culture. "Slobodan Aligrudic" Ensemble from Podgorica, Montenegro demonstrated elegance and traditions in their masterful dances. Turkey was represented by the ensembles "AFTAD" from Ankara and "Sports Club" from Havsa, who brought with them the rhythms and dances specific to their regions.
Once the participating collectives arrived at the Independence Square and took their positions, a unique performance followed by the local ensembles of the Palace of Culture: "Bobocelul", "Nufărul" and "Majorette-Show". These ensembles have prepared a special presentation, inspired by the symbol of the festival, the "White Waterlily", and by the elements specific to the area, such as the fountains and water jugs. Their performance was an exciting mix of lively dances and movements, giving the audience a moment of joy and delight.
With this show, the collectives from Cahul contributed to the creation of a unique atmosphere and paved the way for the further evolution of the event, in which international ensembles took their turn to delight the audience with their impressive performances.
During the five days of the festival, the performances were accompanied by a diverse range of related cultural activities. Craft and food fairs showcased authentic traditional products, giving visitors the chance to enjoy local delicacies and purchase unique souvenirs.
