Cahul - City of Sportsmen: Results of International and National Competitions from May 24-26
The city of Cahul continues to confirm its status as a veritable nursery of sports talents, thanks to the hard work and constant effort of the local sports clubs, coaches and schools. Between May 24-26, Cahul athletes achieved exceptional results at international and national competitions, demonstrating their talent and dedication.
The young volleyball players from Cahul in the final of the Moldovan Championship
For four days, the zonal stage of the Moldova Volleyball Championship for girls under 14 took place in the Sports School hall no. 1 from Cahul, bringing together teams from the Southern Region: Comrat, Copceac, Ceadîr-Lunga, Cantemir and Cahul. Sports School team no. 1 from Cahul, coached by Aliona and Evghenii Hariton, took second place and qualified for the final of the Championship of the Republic of Moldova, which will be held in Chisinau starting on May 22, 2024.
ADCC Amateur World Championship 2024 (grappling), Warsaw, Poland
The " Wolf Pack Academy " Sports Club from Cahul participated in the ADCC amateur world championship on May 25-26, together with 700 participants from 38 countries and 160 academies. Cahuleni achieved impressive results:
- First place: Popazu David, Vrabii David, Fiodorov Ivan, Boiatiuc Alexandr, Gaidașenco Dumitru.
- 1st place: The best academy.
The fact that I am a young generation, preparations for such competitions go on continuously, every day, morning and evening. It's quite monotonous, but hard work and team spirit make us strong. We hope that, if the authorities of the Republic of Moldova will support us, we will get to raise the flag on the world arenas of the United States of America, the Arab Emirates and Brazil. - said Mircea Bragagiu, the club's coach.
Championship of Moldova and Transnistria in Powerlifting, Bender
During May 25-26, Cahul athletes participated in the Powerlifting Championship of Moldova and Transnistria and achieved remarkable results:
- Maxim Banov: 1st place in the sub-master category and 3rd place in the open category (total amount: 457.5 kg).
- Hamhadera Iacov: Absolute junior champion in the category up to 100 kg (total amount: 715 kg).
- Chiosa Denis: 1st place in the junior category up to 90 kg.
- Anastasia Dermenji: 1st place in the junior category up to 75 kg.
Outstanding performances of Cahuleni chess players
The Cahul Chess Center participated, between May 25-26, in a chess tournament in Tulcea, Romania, where they achieved impressive results:
- Jurcan Nicolae: Place IU 8
- Mihai Elias: Third place U 8
- Butuc Beatrice: IFU 8th place
- Panisco Alexandru: Third place U 10
