The Cahul City Hall, in collaboration with the Cahul Chess Center, organized the Cahul Municipality Championship "Classic Chess 2024", a prestigious competition for lovers of this fascinating game.

The competition was structured in two important stages:

1. The first stage took place on February 3-4, 2024, when the qualifying game for the grand final was held. The top 5 chess players from this stage advanced to the list of 10 contenders for the title of champion of Cahul municipality.
2. The second stage, with the championship games, took place over two consecutive weekends, on February 17-18 and February 24-25, 2024.

And today, March 2, at the Cahul Chess Center, the 9 rounds of chess ended, marking the end of the 2024 Cahul Municipality Classic Chess Championship.
Here are the best chess players who were awarded:

- 1st Place: Munteanu Stanislav
- 2nd Place: Mocanu Andrian
- 3rd Place: Doncev Alexandru
- 4th Place: Doncev Andrei
- 5th Place: Bondarev Veceslav
