Cahul City Hall, in collaboration with the Cahul Chess Center, organized the Cahul City Championship "Classic Chess 2024", a prestigious competition for lovers of this fascinating game.

The competition was structured in two important stages:

1. The first stage took place on 3-4 February 2024, when the qualifying game for the grand final took place.
The best 5 chess players from this stage advanced to the list of 10 contenders for the title of champion of the municipality of Cahul. 2. The second stage, with the championship games, took place in two consecutive weekends, on February 17-18 and February 24-25, 2024.

And today, March 2, at the Cahul Chess Center, the 9 rounds of chess play ended, marking the end of the 2024 Cahul City Classic Chess Championship.
Here are the best chess players who were awarded:

- First place: Munteanu Stanislav
- Second place: Mocanu Andrian
- Third place: Doncev Alexandru
- IV place: Doncev Andrei
- Vth place: Bondarev Veceslav
