Football in memory and recollections: Match between veterans from Cahul and Cantemir

On Sunday, January 21, the "Atlant" stadium witnessed an event, where veterans from Cahul and Cantemir met in a series of friendly matches in two age categories, 35 and 50 years old, respectively.
An event organized by the Football Association, under the guidance of Vasily Poroshenko and with the support of the Cahul City Hall, these matches were dedicated to the memory of two remarkable footballers from Cahul, Mr. Victor Vasiliev and Mr. Ilia Trifan, who, although they left this world, left a bright mark in the history of local football.
Before the start of each match, a minute of silence was dedicated to the memory of these exceptional footballers. The matches were played with intensity and offered special moments, culminating in victories for the veterans from Cahul, demonstrating that the passion for football and camaraderie remain alive even over time.
The mayor of the municipality, Nicolae Dandiș, was present at the event and thanked the veterans for their dedication and for being an inspiring example for young people. He offered awards to the best players in each team, with special mention for Tudor Acciu, the 66-year-old Cahul resident, the oldest participant.
Thus, this football day became not only a sports competition, but also an opportunity to pay tribute and honor the memory of those who contributed to the history of local football.
