During December 16-17, Cahul was proudly represented at the "Iron Batle" Dniester Cup, an international powerlifting tournament, which included the chest push and pull-ups.

With around 150 competitors from different corners of the world, the competitive spirit was intense and our representatives stood out with outstanding performances.

Maxim Banov, our athlete in the sub-masters category up to 90 kg, triumphed in the competition, taking first place with an impressive total of 437.5 kg in the three events. Maxim Banov thus brought home a new notable performance, consolidating his position as a leader in the world of powerlifting.

I've been practicing competitive powerlifting for 3 years and in May, I became national champion in the same category. I have been preparing for this tournament since August; the preparation was difficult, and in November I was about to quit due to a small injury, but everything was resolved, - stated Maxim Banov

In addition, two other Cahulians brought home honors. Hamhadera Iakov won first place in the category up to 100 kg, and Chiosa Denis stood out with first place in the junior category, in the category up to 90 kg. The outstanding performances of these athletes demonstrate not only their passion for the sport, but also the high level of training and determination within our community.
