"Theatrical Spring" in Cahul - two days of performances, excitement and over 250 young actors on stage

On May 10 and 11, 2025, Cahul municipality hosted the second edition of the International Theater Festival for Children and Youth "Theatrical Spring", an event dedicated to young theater, organized by the Cahul City Hall in partnership with the "Nicolae Botgros" Palace of Culture and the "Masca" Theater-Studio. The festival brought together 15 theater troupes from the Republic of Moldova and Romania, in a vibrant artistic marathon, full of emotion, talent and passion for the stage.
The event was officially opened inside the Palace of Culture, with the performance of the festival's anthem - "Theatrical Spring" - by the students of the "Luceafărul" Children's Creativity Center, coordinated by Ms. Aliona Bufenco. The emotional message of this anthem also accompanied the closing moment, symbolizing continuity and hope for new editions of the festival.
During the two days, the audience had the opportunity to discover performances created by troupes from Cahul, Chisinau, Ungheni, Soldanesti, Soroca, Hancesti, Vadul lui Isac, but also from the Romanian municipalities: Vaslui, Bacau, Brăila and Panciu. Among the plays presented were adaptations of classical literature, performances for children and adolescents, but also creations inspired by contemporary dramaturgy.
The breaks between performances were animated by recitals offered by the students of the "Masca" Studio Theater and the "Luceafărul" Center, creating a warm and artistic atmosphere, beyond the stage.
The opening of the festival was honored by the presence of Ms. Irina Baran, representative of the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova, who highlighted the value of education through art in the development of young people, as well as Mr. Gheorghe Mîndru, director of the "BP Hasdeu" Theater in Cahul, who sent a message of encouragement to all the young participating actors.
The festival ended with a festive ceremony of awarding diplomas and trophies to all participating troupes, in the presence of Mr. Nicolae Dandiș, Mayor of Cahul, who congratulated the founder and coordinator of the festival, Ms. Alina Carp, for her dedication and constant effort in promoting theater among young people. Also present were the Deputy Mayor of Cahul, Ms. Tatiana Romaniuc, and the Director of the "N. Botgros" Palace of Culture, Ms. Rodica Panasescu.

The International Theater Festival for Children and Youth "Theatrical Spring" is not just a competition, but a bridge between generations, cities and cultures, which confirms that theatrical art is alive and vital among the new generation. Cahul thus continues to assert itself as a regional center of living and participatory culture.
