    Short description

    Historical monument inaugurated in 1967 near the common grave of the Soviet army soldiers who died in August 1944. On the memorial plaque of which the names of Major MI Perevozny, Hero of the Soviet Union, Guard Captain VF Melnikov, Guard Senior Lieutenant VI Semionov, Sergeant AE Paniushin and Guard Junior Sergeant AP Roslic were engraved. On May 9, 2005, on the wall around the obelisk, three marble memorial plaques with the names of 230 Cahul residents who fell on the fronts of World War II were inaugurated. At the same time, above the three commemorative plaques was the inscription "ETERNAL GLORY OF THE FALLEN HEROES", today reduced to "ETERNAL GLORY". Next to the obelisk, the eternal fire burns in memory of the heroes who fell for the liberation of the city.
