Short description
The "Airplane" monument is located at the exit from the municipality towards Vulcănești. On an artificial mound of earth, erected on the left side of the road, was fixed the wreckage of a fighter plane, placed in the position ready for take-off. The monument was inaugurated on August 24, 1985, being dedicated to the memory of the pilots who participated in the air battles in the sky of Cahul. Until recently, on the concrete wall supporting the mound of earth there was a plaque with the inscription, in Russian, "To the liberating pilots from the grateful Cahuleni". Following maintenance work in the summer of 2020 (repainting of the plane and retaining wall), the inscription on the plate has been deleted.
