Short description
The bust of Grigore Vieru (1935 – 2009) was unveiled on July 6, 2014, during the Cahul City Days events. Made by the sculptor Ion Zderciuc, the bust was inaugurated in a festive ceremony organized in the "Grigore Vieru" Central Park of the city, in the presence of local and central officials, as well as from Romania, who came especially for this event. The poet's name and years of life ("GRIGORE VIERU / 1935 - 2009") were inlaid on the plinth of the bust. Inaugurated 5 years after the poet's passing into eternity, the bust of Grigore Vieru was intended to be the first of an expected "Alley of personalities" from Cahul, but also a tribute to the one who, on his way to eternity, left precisely from Cahul.
