    Short description

The bust of Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu (1838 – 1907) was inaugurated on June 28, 1993, near the city Palace of Culture (currently the "Nicolae Botgros" Palace of Culture). The Albanian ambassador to Bucharest was also present at the events organized on the occasion of the inauguration of the bust. On the rather simple pedestal, only the letters in relief that made up the name, "BP HAȘDEU", were mounted. The black marble plaque, later placed on the pedestal of the bust, bore the following inscriptions: "BOGDAN PETRICEICU HAȘDEU / (1838-1907) / universal genius, writer, folklorist, philologist and historian". Previously, the bust of VI Lenin was on its pedestal.
In July 2020, the bust of Hașdeu was moved in front of the new headquarters of the Cahul theater, where a new pedestal was built for it, made of sandstone brought especially from Cosăuți. An explanatory bronze plaque was fixed on it, with the inscription: "Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu / 14.02.1838 – 12.08.1907".
