The bust of Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu (1838 – 1907) was inaugurated on June 28, 1993, near the City Palace of Culture (the current "Nicolae Botgros" Palace of Culture).
The Albanian ambassador to Bucharest was also present at the demonstrations organized on the occasion of the inauguration of the bust. On the rather simple plinth, only the raised letters that made up the name, "BP HAȘDEU", were mounted. The black marble plaque, later placed on the plinth of the bust, bore the words: "BOGDAN PETRICEICU HAŞDEU / (1838-1907) / universal genius, writer, folklorist, philologist and historian". Previously, on its plinth was the bust of VI Lenin. In July 2020, the bust of Hașdeu was moved in front of the new headquarters of the theater in Cahul, where a new plinth was built for it, made of sandstone specially brought from Cosăuți. An explanatory bronze plate was fixed on it, with the inscription: "Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu / 14.02.1838 – 12.08.1907".
