    Short description

    The only theater in southern Moldova, it was founded in 1987 and located in the former House of Culture, a building abandoned after the inauguration of the Palace of Culture.
    The inaugural performance ("The Mountain and the Valley" after the comedy "Three Kings from the East" by BP Hasdeu) was performed on October 17, 1987. And on July 4, 1988, the Council of Ministers of the MSSR conferred the theater the name of BP Hasdeu.

    Over the three decades, the troupe's track record includes three awards for the best male roles awarded at the UNITEM Galas in 1992, 2008 and 2013, one award for the best central female role (2001), six – for the most successful male roles of the second plan, four – for the most conclusive similar female roles, in the relevant compartments of the most important theatrical event in the Republic of Moldova, the actors from Cahul being nominated repeatedly. Notable in theatrical circles are the Masters of Art Aurica Țurcanu and Gheorghe Mândru, the Emeritus Artists Oleg Mereoară, Rodica Ciobanu, Tudor Andriuță and Ion Furnică, the actors Costel Mocanu, Cezara Petrioglu, Diana Mititelu, Nadejda Donea, Oleg Cășuneanu, Alina Carp, Viorica Leonte.

    The theater's repertoire includes children's shows, matinees, comedy and humor shows. And soon, the famous shows will be able to be admired on a new and large stage within the new headquarters, the construction of which began in 2016.
