The School of Fine Arts for Children in the municipality of Cahul was founded on 01.08.1960 by Gheorghe Guzun, then a young graduate of the “Ilia Efimovici Repin” School of Fine Arts in Chisinau, currently the “Alexandru Plămădeală” College of Fine Arts.
Up to now, over 2000 students have studied at the School, who, after graduation, have continued their studies at educational institutions in the Republic of Moldova, becoming fine artists and members of the Union of Fine Artists of Moldova, teachers in Fine Arts Schools, Colleges of Arts, higher education institutions, have practiced fine arts both in the country and abroad. At the moment, 240 students from the municipality and its suburbs are studying at the school.
Over the years, students have participated in local, national and international competitions, being awarded the gold medal, the grand prize, 1st, 2nd, 3rd places and honorable mentions. The school is the organizer of several art exhibitions, including: The Contemporary Art Exhibition "Punct Vernal" and the Visual Arts Exhibition "Elegie Autumnală"
